Color Cravings

colors I'll be on a lookout for in late winter/spring:
emerald/hunter green

(especially in combination with gold and black)
sweater from http://www.i-love-parrot-kisses.com/

sherbert colors

(like these awesome shoes Ringo, Have a Banana auctioned off on EBAY last May)

Neon

(I know Urban Outfitters is overpriced and another inauthentic chain store, but they always seem to get me...)

And for some strange reason, bright pink. It's so eight grade, but thanks to Kate Bosworth, the Nylon issue with sienna miller and her sis on the cover, and Preen's winter collection, i'm starting to get turned on by that color all over again.

and wait... you know what? this dress kind of falls into the neon category. So, uh, special attention to the neon pink.

Anne Hathaway and Sleeping Pills

Okay, so my roomate brings home a copy of US magazine for the sake of Britney's preggers lil sis being on the cover... and i was flipping through it , i came upon some good/bad gossip-news... a Valley of the Dolls remake might be in the works! And uh, guess who might play Neely O'Hara? Anne Hathaway. I don't think that's really a good choice, and i'm kind of sad also, because if there was ever going to be a Valley of the Dolls remake - i kind of wanted to have something to do with it. Oh well. someone thought of it first. (How couldn't they, in light of all the press those Hollywood bad girls are getting lately? The beautiful downfall of Britney just screams Valley of the Dolls!!!)
If you've never seen Valley of the Dolls, i suggest you rent or read it. It's delicious, though not really a well written novel or screenplay. That blonde you see there is actress Sharon Tate, who was murdered by members of the Manson Family in her own home while pregnant with Roman Polanski's child. Disturbing. The one on the right, Patty Duke, who Anne Hathaway is set to play is Sean Astin's mother, you know- Frodo's loverboy on Lord of the Rings.

shop to lose

Usually, i have bad luck with ebay... everytime i lose a bid, i feel so incredibly defeated that i pledge to never get on EBAY ever again. I'm usually back on in a day or two, once i'm convinced that maybe this time i can find a perfect highwaisted skirt jumper out in the pages of pages of crap. Despite those crazy high bidders (which caused me to stay away from the super stylish "Vintage Underground"), i've had some luck:

I found these awesome shoes. Although i rarely wear anything with heels, these are way too cute. so a girl can change her mind.

I also got this double buckle belt on Buy It Now, which i didn't think i'd be able to find cheap anywhere. But Guess what? Ebay really does have everything!!!(okay, not really, but it has opened a whole new way of shopping for junk when the junk in retail stores just doesn't suffice).

Bye, bye Baby!

I think this year i've seen more than enough of baby doll tops and empire waist dresses, but i have to admit i'll be sad to see them go. It was nice to know that if if i became pregnant or anything, my wardrobe wouldn't have to change much- but i have a feeling that in the coming months, i'll be throwing all those drapey numbers out. Because this year, there's a better idea of where the waistline should be. Not just below the breasts or way down where your pubes (lol) begin. The new waistline rests just at the waist, meeting right where the tip top of your buttoned up high waisted shorts go.
i think urbanoutfitters gets my drift... out with the: in with the:

Peplum Obsession

For the past week or so i've been obsessively ebaying peplum skirts, suits, and jackets. I can't explain why... it's not such a memorable 80's style, but ever since i neglected to bid on a diy pencil peplum skirt, i've been regretful. It seems to me, however, that the style is reserved for only fancier occasions- preferably new years, when it's okay to look glamourous and ridiculous at the same time. I found an independent designer who made a cute mint green peplum jumper, but unfortunately, i came upon it weeks ago and cannot retrace my steps. Well what do you think- i hate to reduce us to such terms, but is peplum a do or don't?
